Vowel Breathing: A Fun and Easy Way for Kids to Learn Breathing and Vowels!

Vowel breathing is perfect for improving their breathing techniques and phonics skills, while also promoting relaxation and mindfulness.

1. Find a comfortable position

2. Take a deep breath in and prepare to exhale a vowel

3. As you exhale, choose a vowel to sound out - A, E, I, O, or U - and exhale it with a steady and controlled breath. Encourage your child to do the same and repeat as many times as you like. You can even make it into a game and see who can hold the vowel sound the longest or sound it out the loudest.

It's also helpful to notice where the sound resonates in your body when you exhale each vowel. This can help with body awareness and self-regulation. For example, you may feel the sound of the "A" vowel in your chest, while the "O" vowel may resonate in your belly.

Give it a try and let us know how it works for you and your little one!
