Ahoy there, young sailors! Are you ready to set sail and explore the high seas? All aboard the boat pose, or as they call it in different languages, bateau (French), perahu (Indonesian), bote (Spanish), or 狮子吼 chuán (Mandarin)
What is Boat Pose Good For?
Boat pose is a fun and exciting yoga pose that you can do with your family and friends. It's a great way to build strength in your abdomen and spine, energize your body, and improve digestion. Plus, it's a fantastic activity to use as a "movement break" when you're feeling distracted, whether at home or in the classroom.
Here's how you can do the boat pose
- Sit down with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor, breathe in
- With a proud chest, slowly tiptoe your feet all the way in until your legs come off the ground and you can balance on your bottom, breathe in and out
- Gently rock like a boat in water, for a few breaths
- Repeat and have fun! Make it a competition. Be a kayak, canoe, or ship. Sing row row your boat. Wear a sailor's costume!
Remember to have fun and be creative with your boat pose. You can make it a competition with your friends, or you can pretend to be a sailor on a ship. You can even sing "row, row your boat". The possibilities are endless!
If you're feeling tired or distracted, take a break and try the boat pose. It's a great way to increase alertness; the rocking movement can help soothe you and improve your focus.
So what are you waiting for, young sailors? Set sail and explore the vast ocean with the boat pose.
