3 Easy Yoga Tools for Kids (No Mat, No Problem!)

Yoga is a great activity for both kids and adults, and it can be done right in the comfort of your own home. But do you need a bunch of fancy equipment to get started? Not at all! Here are three tools to help you get started with yoga at home (and the alternatives!)

1. Yoga Mat
A yoga mat is a great tool to give your tiny humans a sense of ownership over their space. However, if you don't have one, don't worry! You can use a blanket, towel, rug, or even the grass outside as your yoga mat. The key is to find a comfortable and safe space where you can practice.

2. Breathing Ball
A breathing ball, like the Hoberman sphere, can be a fun and interactive way to teach kids about deep breathing. This tool expands and contracts as you breathe, making it a great visual aid for breathing exercises. However, if you don't have a breathing ball, there are plenty of other visual aids you can use, such as blowing bubbles, using a stuffed toy on your belly, blowing up a balloon, or blowing on a scarf.

3. Yoga Cards
Yoga cards can provide a visual point of reference for poses and also allow for creative exploration and learning through play. That's why we created Metta Play bilingual yoga cards. But if you don't want to wait for shipping - you can download a printable version that'll be downloaded into your inbox instantly!

Remember, the most important tools you need for yoga are your body, mind, and breath. Let your little ones explore their bodies and breath in a safe and supportive environment. But don't let the lack of fancy equipment stop you from trying yoga with your tiny humans. Get creative with what you have.
