The Lunar New Year is a time for celebration and renewal, and what better way to start the year off right than with some fun breathing exercises for kids? Whether you're celebrating the Year of the Rabbit or the Year of the Cat, these two breathing exercises are sure to help your little ones find calm, boost their energy, and relieve tension in their bodies.
š° Rabbit/bunny breathing
This exercise involves taking quick, short breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth, like a bunny hopping around. It's a great way to get your heart rate up and boost your energy levels, while also helping you find calm and focus.
To do rabbit/bunny breathing, simply sit or stand in a comfortable position and start taking quick, short breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. As you breathe in, imagine yourself gathering up all the energy and excitement of the new year, and as you breathe out, imagine yourself releasing any stress or tension.
š± Cat breathing
This exercise involves stretching the spine and relieving tension in the neck and head, like a cat stretching after a nap. It's a great way to release any built-up tension from the day and find a sense of relaxation.
To do cat breathing, start in a seated position with your back straight and your feet flat on the ground. Inhale deeply, imagining yourself stretching your spine like a cat arching its back. Then exhale slowly, imagining yourself releasing any tension in your neck and head.
Whether you're celebrating the Year of the Rabbit or the Year of the Cat, these two breathing exercises are a great way to start the new year off on the right foot. So why not give them a try with your little ones and see how they feel? And don't forget to share your experiences and ideas with us!Ā
